In this call for proposals, you can apply for planning grants within the framework of the national research programme on applied welfare research. The current call is for planning grants that are used to prepare for subsequent research projects or programmes within the national research programme. A total of SEK 6 million is reserved for the year 2023. Grants will be given for the period 1 January 2023 – 31 August 2023.

Grant types

One grant type is available within this call: planning grants. Grant limit for planning grants is SEK 500 000 over eight months, with start 1 January 2023.

Focus area

The current call is for planning grants that are used to prepare for subsequent research projects or programmes within the national research programme on applied welfare research. This means that it must be client- and practice-oriented research within the social service’s operational areas, based on one or more of the eight priority areas of the national research programme, listed below. The priority areas are presented in more detail in the programme’s strategic agenda.

  1. Effects of interventions.
  2. Methods for needs assessment for individuals.
  3. Early/preventive measures of the social services.
  4. Implementation and change management.
  5. Coherent service provision initiatives.
  6. User participation.
  7. Digitalisation and welfare technology.
  8. Non-profit and entrepreneurial providers of social services.

The planning grant can be used to develop and strengthen the collaboration/co-production of the planned research, but it may also be used for other activities. This means that collaboration/co-production does not have to occur within the activities funded by the planning grant. However, it is important that the research that is being prepared with the planning grant is conducted in collaboration/co-production with relevant target groups.

The administering organisation must have an account

To be able to apply for a grant, a Swedish university or another research funding body must administrate the funding and have an organisational account in Prisma. The administering organisation should apply for this in due time via Prisma.
